The Island Players is pleased to announce the cast of “A Bad Year For Tomatoes”.
The Island Players recently held open auditions for their new community theatre group on Marco Island. According to Pattie Ziesig, one of the founders, they had an amazing turn out of folks who came to read for the eight parts and sign up for all sorts of volunteer duties. “We were thrilled to have so many people eager to help and we plan to incorporate all their talents into our productions” says Ziesig.
The cast for “Tomatoes” includes: Mai Puccio playing actress Myra Marlowe; Scott Lilly playing Marlowe’s agent, Tom Lamont; Carol Clarke playing neighbor Cora Gump; Judy Daye playing neighbor Reba Harper; Betsy Perdichizzi playing neighbor Willa Mae Wilcox; Norma Griffin playing neighbor Clara Thrupp; Joe Kelly playing wood chopper Piney; Gary Grant playing the Sheriff.
The founders,Pat Berry, Pattie Ziesig, and Jean Rowles could not be more thrilled with the cast of their first production and look forward to getting to work.
The Island Players’ premiere production will be American playwright and screenwriter John Patrick’s light-hearted comedy A Bad Year for Tomatoes. Co-directed by Berry and Ziesig, this Broadway favorite follows the actions of TV star Myra Marlowe who jettisons her acclaimed but unsatisfying career to move back east and write her
A Bad Year for Tomatoes will run for eight shows Friday, Sept. 30, Saturday, Oct. 1, Sunday, Oct 2, Friday Oct. 7, Saturday, Oct. 8, Sunday, Oct. 9, Friday, Oct. 14, and Saturday, Oct. 15. All performances begin at 7 pm.
