The Grand Finale
City departments met with the public at the celebration.
The festivities carried us from the hub of business and tourism to the classrooms of learning and the galleries of artistic creation. We paced ourselves with a workout of body, mind and spirit to embark on a journey through history to the place from whence we came. Finally, this whirlwind celebration reached its grand finale with the hustle and bustle of the Government Campus, the workshop where our future is crafted and honed. Although it has sometimes been the site of heated controversies and harsh disagreements, on this joyous occasion, City Hall was a happy place filled with music, food and fun. Four new “Celebrate Wildlife” banners, created by artist J.J. Stinchcomb, were unveiled. The banners will be installed along Collier Boulevard in celebration of our city’s 20-year achievement.
Throughout the anniversary celebration, each individual event helped to reveal our truly greatest blessing and most valuable asset of all. It is the people of Marco Island that make our city the wonderful place that it is. In spite of differing opinions and occasional pitfalls, the people
of Marco Island love
Marco Island; and that’s the way it will always be!
Happy 20th Anniversary, Marco Island! Wishing you many, many more!
