Thanks from Afghanistan

By Coastal Breeze News Staff

Recently, Coastal Breeze News featured several businesses and individuals that helped make the 20th Anniversary wedding vow renewal extra special for Marine Master Chief Chris Aldis and his wife, Paula Aldis. Chris served in Afghanistan at the time of the ceremony and was on a two week leave for R & R. Two decades ago the couple had eloped between deployments due to money and time constraints but their dream was to have a beach wedding. It took many local businesses to make their dream wedding come true.

In this issue, we are featuring three more Marco Island businesses among those that went all out to make the event a memorable for the Aldis family. They generously donated their services to honor this military couple. Their outpouring of kindness was above and beyond and made Aldis wedding more wonderful than they could have imagined.

Chris wanted to show his appreciation in a meaningful way. He sent major contributors to their beach wedding an American flag which had previously flown over his base in Afghanistan. Each flag was accompanied by a certificate certifying that the flag had flown over the 2nd Marine Division (Forward) Headquarters, Camp Leatherneck, in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. The flags were presented to the participating businesses by Coastal Breeze News Marketing Rep Marilyn Honahan. The recipients were very moved by these special gifts and are treasuring them.

Chris and Paula want to thank everyone who played a part in making their trip to Marco Island a great experience. Fortunately, Chris has received new orders. His new duty assignment will be working for a Three Star General out of Camp Smith in Hawaii. Marine Force Pacific is made up of two thirds of the Marine Corps with a total of 91,000 marines and sailors. Chris will be covering from west of the Mississippi to India. He will be travelling a lot but no long deployments.

These businesses were honored for their contribution: Ron and Jennifer Doino from Classic Transportation, Lee and Belinda Horton from Horton Photography, Karen Anglin from South Beach Hair and Xiomara Martinez from Homex Decor.
