On this day, the Korean War-era veterans were the special honorees. The message was loud and clear – to all the men and women who served in the Korean War, we thank you and we celebrate your service to your country.
Bill Duncan, a Vietnam combat veteran and a chaplain for American Legion # 404, referred to Korean War veterans as “a very unique group of veterans that have somewhat been largely ignored in history. They served in a forgotten war, a war that was called a ‘conflict,’ a ‘peace action’ and a ‘United Nations security action.’ But for those who served, it is remembered as ‘The Korean War.’”
