Feeding on the wing goes “cuisine classy” this Sunday at the Esplanade when the Greater Family Marco YMCA hosts the annual Taste of Marco.
Chefs from more than a dozen local restaurants will offer portions from some of their finest food, while other attractions are the Ben Allen Band, two 50/50 raffles and a wine auction. The band is sponsored by Kathein Jewelers.
Just $8 or two people for $15 gets guests into the venue (children under 12 are free with paid adults), and food tickets are available in $1 increments with portions usually running between 2 and 8 tickets.
Restaurants include CJ’s on the Bay, Coldstone Creamery, Crabby Lady, Island Country Club, Italian Deli, JW Marriott, 10K Alley, Mango’s Dockside Bistro, Marco Island Yacht Club, Michelbob’s Ribs and Steak, Pincher’s Crab Shack, Subway on North Collier, Verdi’s Bistro, and ZAZA Kitchen.
Throw in a mellow atmosphere, those chances to win big 50/50 raffles and bidding in the wine auction, and there’s no denying it’s a Sunday worth dedicating to what is also a great cause.
The day benefits the Greater Marco Family YMCA, which uses the proceeds to finance its scholarship programs in the form of subsidies for deserving families.
It’s the 29th festival of its kind, and the restaurants pull out all the culinary stops in the hope of winning awards – The People’s Choice, Best Decorated and Best Theme.
