Surviving the Odds: Locals, friends, family, and businesses band together for Steven Peterson

On October 6, Marco Island local, Steven Peterson was in a jet ski accident. When found face down in the water, Peterson was lifeless but, because of lifesaving measures like CPR, he was able to be resuscitated twice that day. Peterson was on life support for the first week in the hospital where they explained that he had a 5% chance of survival. After week two, Steven started regaining consciousness and talking through his tracheotomy tube. Thankfully, Steven has been released from the hospital and is now continuing his rehabilitation in California.

While he continues to recover, locals, friends, and family banded together to assist in fundraising to cover his medical expenses. On November 9th, the Marco Island Brewery hosted an ‘80/‘90s themed fundraiser. Immediately following the event, the Brewery had roughly estimated raising $13,000 with donations still coming in that will go directly towards Steven’s medical expenses. The Brewery gave credit to the local businesses that participated and stated that they would have never been able to raise as much as they did without their generous donations and help. They are so thankful for everyone who participated. Steven’s gofundme can be found at gofundme.com/f/prayers-for-steven-peterson.
