Sunset Cove, which boasts 36 two and three bedroom timeshare units, is located between Winn Dixie and Veteran’s Community Park and is one of two recent Holiday Inn Club Vacations® acquisitions! The new management intends on keeping the current employees of Sunset Cove. One local staffer said they are starting from scratch in going over every department and operation. “We are excited with future possibilities under the new ownership.”

As the hands-on publisher of a community newspaper, vacation time is hard to come by. Combined with the budget constraints, my family decided to opt for a ‘staycation’ this year and we stayed at the Holiday Inn Club Vacations® flagship resort in Orlando, Orange Lake Resort. It was a topnotch getaway with enough amenities to keep the kids busy while we relaxed (husband) and I stayed connected to work (on deadline).

Holiday Inn Club Vacations® at Orange Lake Resort sits on 1,450 acres in the heart of the theme park action and is now the crown jewel of their resorts. It boasts a lake with all the water sports imaginable, not one, not two, not three, but four golf courses, one lit at night with tee times as late as 9:00 PM. There is a variety of entertainment, shopping and dining onsite. Tennis courts, theater and the McCord Golf Academy, too. There are seven pools, jacuzzi spas, two miniature golf courses and a full 12-acre water park complete with lazy river. Nature trails, full arcade and a full daily activity schedule are available for those who must keep busy during their vacation.

The accommodations we were given included a two bedroom unit with designer appointments, full kitchen, two full baths and washer/dryer. A wonderful king size bed with top of the line bedding welcomed me to slumber every night

of our stay which was a great relief for someone who isn’t readily satisfied with hotel beds.

Conversations with management during our stay alluded to a new Holiday Inn Vacation Club Vacations® timeshare resort coming to Marco Island! Now they have! Stacey Sutherland, Vice President of Corporate Communications & Brand Services for the timeshare developer Orange Lake Resorts, says “This property in Marco Island is an exciting new addition for the Holiday Inn Club Vacations® brand and is a convenient drive-to location for many of our owners who live in the southeast. Once our planned accommodation upgrades are complete in January 2012, this resort will also add another dimension to our upscale Signature Collection product line, with all rooms offering waterfront views.”

Holiday Inn Club Vacations® is affiliated with Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG). 62,000 members can chose a stay from eight resorts locations including Marco Island, Orlando, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Brownsville, Vermont, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Panama City Beach, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as any of 4,400 IHG hotels worldwide. IHG manages a portfolio of seven hotel brands including; Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, and Holiday Inn Club Vacations®. It is the largest hotel group worldwide, based on total number of rooms. IHG also owns Priority Club rewards, a hotel loyalty program with over 60 million members.

The growth of branded hotels is three times the pace of non-branded hotels. The IHG system will aggressively advance their branding and marketing plans by pumping a $1 billion dollar reserve fund into driving guests to their hotels worldwide. At the heart of IHG is the guiding principle to provide excellence in all they do.

Based on our stay at Orange Lake, Holiday Inn Club Vacations® will be a welcome addition to the Marco Island tourism industry.
