The Rotary Club of Marco Island Sunrise recently completed its annual distribution of dictionaries to local third graders. Rotarians Wanda Day and Skip Merriam were joined by Gene Burson in delivering the dictionaries to students and classrooms. The three volunteers delivered dictionaries to third graders at local schools as part of this annual Rotary project.
The dictionaries are purchased by Sunrise Rotary, and made available at no cost to the students. The project not only helps Rotarians assist in the education of local youth but also introduces to the service of Rotarians. According to Sunrise President Neil Snyder, “This is a great project. Each year our members look forward to the smiling faces of young students receiving our dictionaries. We get to visit each classroom personally and the experience is quite rewarding”
The Rotary Club of Marco Island Sunrise meets every Tuesday at Stonewalls, 551 S. Collier Blvd. on Marco Island at 7 AM and welcomes visitors.
