Everglades City School’s art students are exhibiting their wonderful oil paintings in the Pauline Reeves Gallery at the Museum of the Everglades through the remaining summer months. The Museum is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mr. Paul Tribble has been the school’s art teacher for over thirty years and brings out the best in our talented students.
Recently I attended the Tamiami Trail Modifications: Next Steps (TTM) public workshop in Miami, sponsored by the Everglades National Park (ENP). A feasibility study is being conducted to build more bridges along the east section of the proposed River of Grass Greenway (ROGG) route. We believe it is important for the planners to include a multi-use pathway in their study, and public support is necessary at this stage in the planning process in order for the ENP to include ROGG in their alternatives.
Please help this important project by submitting your comments by mail or email at the TTM website (wwwparkplanning.nps.gov, select “Everglades NP” from the drop down box, then “Tamiami Trail Modifications: Next Steps Project“). There are other issues that are of interest to fishermen, boaters, and others traveling the Trail so be sure to check out the NPS website. Comments are due before July 27. US-41 is the only cross-state transportation corridor in southern Florida open to cyclists and hikers, and the sole access road to innumerable Everglades destinations.
