Step Right Up With The Marco Players

Step Right Up for another season of community theater! Mark your calendar for The Marco Players’ upcoming 2019-2020 season which kicks off in October with advance ticket sales starting August 14 for season subscribers, August 28 for groups of 10 or more, and September 4 for everyone.

As the longest-running community theater on Marco Island, we’re excited to announce six main productions and we’ll also bring back the lunchbox series. This season includes a boot-full of comedy, highlights the value and importance of friendships, and our need to stay open to change and the opportunity to walk in someone else’s shoes.

Located in the Marco Town Center Mall, The Marco Players Theater is an 83-seat black box theater that is known for live performance art, hosting local musicians, displaying the works of local artists, and a great place to get involved. The theater is currently recruiting volunteers for exciting roles such as Sound and Light Booth Operator, Hair Stylist, House Manager and more! “Old Ringers”

Show Dates: October 16 –3, 2019

Fighting to overcome the shrinking economy and their shrinking pocketbooks, four senior women come up with the brilliant idea to start a home phone sex service after receiving an unsolicited obscene phone call! You’ll laugh at the lighter side of economic downturns with this bawdy comedy. Note: This play contains adult themes, language, and humor. Produced by special arrangement with Joe Simonelli.

“A Doublewide, Texas Christmas”

When residents are double-crossed by the county, they conspire to take on the big guys in this comical story about spending Yuletide in a good ‘ol Texas-sized mobile home for the holidays! By the time this full-tilt story climaxes, you’ll have doubled your Christmas spirit! Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

“The Dixie Swim Club”

Show Dates: January 2 – 19, 2019

Five Southern women, whose friendships started while on the college swim team, meet every August in a cottage on the beach. With freedom from husbands, kids and jobs, there’s plenty of time to catch-up, meddle in, and recharge their relationships. When fate throws in a wrench, this comedy shows us the power and support of friendships that last forever. Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

“Tango at Two-Thirty”

Show Dates: February 5 – 23, 2020

This play is about the lives of three couples who are residents at Lago Palms Village. Through their experiences, we explore the notion that love can come when it is least expected, and that age is no barrier to finding marital bliss. Produced by special arrangement with Carole Fenstermacher.

“Born Yesterday”

Show Dates: March 11 – 29, 2020

A vulgar, crooked deal-maker comes to Washington with his girlfriend who is charming but lacks social graces. When he hires a reporter to educate her, he learns some hard lessons about betrayal, love and politics. Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

“Sylvia”

Show Dates: April 15 – May 3, 2020

You’ll chuckle at this modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. When Sylvia enters the scene, she becomes a rival for affection. The marriage is put in serious jeopardy until after a series of hilarious complications, yet, Sylvia becomes a valued part of life. Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
