Between the high rises and golf course communities of today and the past of 2,000 years ago, there is a landscape reflecting the domain of the powerful Calusa Indians who occupied this areaof southwest Florida when the Spaniards arrived in the early 16th century. Theresa Schober is an archaeologist who has conducted extensive surveys in this part of the state for twelve years. She will detail her findings. She is the Director of Cultural Resources, including Mound House, for Fort Myers Beach.
Since the historical society is going on a field trip to the Mound House on October 18, this presentation will be invaluable. Please call Jerry Masters at 239-394-3917 to sign up for the trip.
