Between the high rises and gold course communities of today and the past of 2,000 years ago, there is a landscape reflecting the domain of the powerful Calusa Indians who occupied this area of southwest Florida when the Spaniards arrived in the early 16th century. Theresa Schober is an archaeologist who has conducted extensive surveys in this part of the state for 12 years, and she will detail her findings for us. She is the Director of Cultural Resources, including Mound House, for Ft. Myers Beach.
Since we are going on a field trip to <Mound House on October 18, this presentation will be invaluable for all of us. Please call Jerry Masters at 239-394-3917 to sign up for the trip.
