South Barfield Dr Road Closure & Detour – April 9th

The Estates Sewer District Construction will begin on Monday April 9, 2012. This will require a temporary Lane Closure and Detour of SOUTH BARFIELD DR beginning on MONDAY APRIL 9th, between Winterberry Dr and Watson Rd. All S. Barfield traffic between Winterberry Dr and Watson Rd will be required to travel on the southbound (west) side of the median. Speed limits in the construction zone detour will be posted at 25 mph.

A 3-WAY STOP WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR THE WINTERBERRY – S. BARFIELD INTERSECTION.
A 2-WAY STOP WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THE CROSS-OVER NORTH OF WATSON RD.

This temporary traffic pattern will be in effect 24/7 and will likely last for several months as sewer and water mains are installed. Delays should be expected through this area. Please notify your staff who may be traveling in this area so they can anticipate delays.

The construction work zone will be set up on the east side of S. Barfield and both northbound lanes of S. Barfield Dr. will be detoured into 1-lane on the southbound side just north of Watson Rd. This single northbound lane will be required to STOP at the Winterberry Dr intersection. Access for local residents on the northbound (east) side of S.Barfield will be maintained.

The two southbound lanes of S. Barfield will be merged into 1-lane southbound, just north of Winterberry Dr and required to STOP at the Winterberry intersection. This single southbound lane will continue through the intersection on S. Barfield Dr, all the way to a TWO-WAY STOP just north of Watson Rd, where traffic will resume normal 4-lane operation.

Turns onto Inlet Dr, Devon Ct and Travida Terrace will be allowed, except when construction is directly in these intersections. Sidewalks should remain open in both directions, however some temporary sidewalk closures may be required for safety reasons.

Access by local traffic to residences and side-streets will be maintained, however, due to the detour, residents may need to go around the barricades or around the block to get to their property. Mail delivery should remain as normal, however Trash/Recycle/Debris pickups will be modified for residents on S. Barfield northbound side. Notices to local residents will be handed out.

Message boards and warning signs will be posted to give advanced notice to the public. All residents and service industry vehicles are encouraged to use alternate routes (see below) or allow extra time when using S. Barfield Dr.

Suggested Alternate Routes:
During the S. Barfield Dr detour, the suggested alternate route for “through-traffic” would be:

  • SOUTHBOUND – No alternate route suggested, follow traffic signs on S. Barfield.
  • NORTHBOUND – Use Inlet Dr northbound to S. Barfield.
