Central Florida Channel 13 News filming the creature.

A skunk ape was sighted in Big Cypress! Our photographer, Ed Bridle was able to snap a few shots of the creature before it took off. Sightings of this creature are very rare but this swampy area, home to royal palms, panthers, birds, and gators is the most likely setting to find one. Ed was driving down Highway 41 when he spotted some sort of large animal and stopped to

investigate.

The skunk ape or “stink ape” has characteristics similar to sasquatch, yeti or bigfoot. Witnesses indicate the animal is anywhere from 6-8’ tall weighing 400 to 800 pounds. Facts on this creature vary and are often mixed with folklore. One thing everyone agrees on, he stinks! The ape-like being has a strong, foul odor likened to rotten alligator eggs. Several sightings have been logged with further details available at www.floridaskunkape.com. Or, you can check out the Skunk Ape Research Center
