Marco Island’s San Marco Parish Center was alive and radiant with all the colors of the rainbow on February 5th as the Women of St. Finbarr presented their annual fashion show, She Comes in Colors Everywhere… She’s a Rainbow!

You just might be asking, “Who are the Women of St. Finbarr?” They are an organization of spiritual and very caring ladies from St. Finbarr Catholic Church, 13520 Tamiami Trail East in Naples. The church was originally founded in 2000 as a mission chapel of San Marco Catholic Church. The chapel was named in honor of the patron saint of Cork, Ireland, to reflect the Irish heritage of Father McCarthy who was the pastor of San Marco Church at the time. In 2010, Bishop Frank Dwane elevated the mission church to be its own parish.

The Women of St. Finbarr are dedicated to supporting those in need in the local community. Following the inspirational words of St. Finbarr pastor Father Leo Smith, the ladies are the living definition of the word “Catholic” which truly means “universal.” Their ministry does not stop at the end of the parish driveway; that is where it begins! Funds that are raised in their annual fashion show and bake sale are not only used to support parish programs but are also used to help local schools and other charitable organizations within the community.

This year’s event was a huge success as a sellout crowd enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Frisco’s, followed by a show of resort wear fashions by Patchington, located at 599 S. Collier Blvd., Marco Island. The models, all members of the Women of St. Finbarr, were chic and elegant showing off the styles of casual daytime, fun afternoons, and elegant evenings. Door prizes and silent auction items, donated by generous individuals, local restaurants and other local businesses added to the fun and funds!

Each place setting was adorned with a handcrafted angel charm of rainbow hues, a favor for each guest to take home. No two were the same, but each one served to remind us that we always need to spread our wings, to reach out and help one another every day, every way! That’s a message that will always be in style!
