On Sunday March 24th the sanctuary at San Marco Catholic Church will be sharing the Easter story through scripture, song and orchestra.
This cantata is the fourth by the community chorus, which began as an ecumenical outreach by Kathleen Osborn Gerdes of the Wesley United Methodist Church who is the Director of Music and Conductor of the Marco Island Community Chorus and Judy Wright, the Director of Music at the San Marco Catholic Church.
The Marco Island Community Chorus now consists of voices from the following churches: Wesley United Methodist, San Marco Catholic, Marco Lutheran, St. Mark’s Episcopal and Marco Presbyterian. These voices will be accompanied by pianist Kelly Utterback and a 12-piece youth orchestra from the Naples Youth Orchestra and area high schools, making this a wonderful coming together of multiple generations and faiths.
The work being performed is “The Power of the Cross” by Mark Hayes. Join us as we journey with Christ through Holy Week with beautiful narration combined with inspiring original music of contemporary tunes and traditional hymns that all may join in singing. “The Power of the Cross” reminds of all Christ’s sacrifice of love, triumph over death and promise of redemption.
The performance is FREE on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 3 PM at the San Marco Catholic Church. For more information call 239-394-5181.
