September 26-30 Designated Family Day (Week) on Marco Island

Family Day – A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children was established in 2001 by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. Family Day is a national movement that informs parents that the engagement during frequent family dinners is an effective tool to help keep America’s kids substance free. Family meals are the perfect time to talk to your kids and to listen to what’s on their mind. Start off with one day in mind where everyone can get together and expand from that point to goal of 3-4 days a week. Sit around a table. This has proved to be the best seating arrangement as it is the most comfortable and allows people to relax and connect with each other. Parents also need to turn down the volume, take your place at the table, start meal time with a ritual or family tradition, keep the talk easy and teach by example. Family time is really about sharing love in the form of time and attention. The Greater Marco Family YMCA, Drug Free Collier County and participating Marco Island area restaurants want you to eat dinner with your children and are giving you the chance to do so by each restaurant offering their kids menu free with a few reservations and the purchase of a Adult entrée or dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. the week of September 26 to 30. Participating restaurants and the weekly schedule is as follows; Monday, September 26 Crazy Flamingo 1035 N. Collier Blvd, Tuesday, September 27 – Cocomos Grill 961 North Collier Blvd, Wednesday, September 28, Vandys Sports Restaurant 1089 North Collier Blvd., Thursday, September 29, The Marco Island Brewery 1089 North Collier Blvd. and Friday, September 30, Margaritas Restaurant 1069 North Collier Blvd. All restaurants but Cocomos Grille are located at the Marco Town Center.
