Scotto Curtain Call Returns to Naples

Opera Naples’ inaugural “Renata Scotto Opera Program” kicked off this past January at the Wang Opera Center providing singers multiple private voice lessons with Ms. Scotto, as well as vocal coachings from an expert staff on the repertoire of their choosing. In collaboration with Teatro de la Zarzuela’s “Zig Zag Project,” seven singers were chosen by Ms. Scotto to attend the Renata Scotto Opera Program.

This spring, the Renata Scotto Opera Program will return with its encore performance by providing master classes to a new group of qualified singers, followed by two final performances scheduled March 13 and March 18, 2017 at the Wang Opera Center. As an outreach opportunity to support this mentorship, a local business, Laura Jacobs Bridal located in Fort Myers, partnered with Opera Naples by providing some scholarship funding for the Renata Scotto Opera Program.

In addition to Ms. Scotto’s master class collaboration with Teatro de la Zarzuela and Opera Naples’ Artistic Director, Ramón Tebar, the legendary opera star was also the guest honoree at An Evening in Monte Carlo Annual Benefit Gala hosted by the

Renata Scotto, world renowned Italian soprano, stage director, and teacher is known by millions as one of the greatest singers of all time. For more than 40 years, Scotto performed regularly on the stages of the world’s greatest opera houses, working with the world’s most illustrious singers and directors. Her repertoire included more than 60 roles, and she has a wealth of awards as well as a substantial catalogue of recordings. Scotto has established herself as a sought-after teacher on the international circuit and has presented master classes worldwide.
