Scholarships Available For Marco Island Students Majoring In the Arts

Once again the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts is announcing the availability of scholarships for high school seniors and college students who will be majoring in some area of the arts during the 2014-15 school year. Since 2007, the non-profit organization has been awarding scholarships to Marco Island students who plan to major in visual arts, literary arts or performing arts. The cost of a higher education beyond high school continues to rise each year, and the Foundation for the Arts awards these scholarships to help students to pursue their dreams in the arts.

Perhaps you know of a hard-working high school senior on Marco Island who wants to major in music, photography, art, movie making, theater or dance. Please inform that student about the scholarship program offered by the Foundation for the Arts, and direct him/her to the website, www.marcoarts.org, for more information and the application to complete.

Applications also are available on the Collier County Public Schools list of available scholarships. Completed applications must be returned no later than April 30 for the student to be considered for the scholarship. Students or their parents are welcome to call Carolyn Burger, president, for more information at 239-389-0280.

A special luncheon to honor students and award scholarships is now being planned by the Foundation for the Arts to be held in the spring. Watch for more information as details become available.
