After months of hard work fundraising, the Christmas Island Style organization once again will bring free holiday events to Marco for all islanders to enjoy.
On Friday, November 27 at 6 PM at the Shops of Marco, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be paying a visit. They will arrive by fire truck and be greeting local children, both naughty and nice.
Saturday, November 28 at 6 PM brings the annual tree lighting and community celebration at Veterans Community Park. The family-friendly event will be full of activity, including live music and dance performances by youngsters.
On November 29 the Joy of Giving Motorcycle Run willcome through Marco. The ride, which is in a poker run style format, will benefit needy children in Collier County. Last year the Joy of Giving brought Christmas to more than 1,000 children in need.
Holiday Pets on Parade are coming to CJ’s on the Bay in the Esplanade on December 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. This event is a crowd pleaser; dog owners outdo themselves each year with creative costumes for their pups.
Christmas Island Style brings two parades to Marco Island each year. On Saturday, December 5, the Marco Island Annual Christmas Boat Parade will take place at 6 PM. The following Saturday, December 12,the Annual Street Parade will once again take over San Marco Road starting at 6:30 PM.
Saturday, December 12 will also bring another visit from Santa, this time at Mackle Park. From 10 AM to 12 PM Santa will share cookies and milk with Marco’s local children and their families. Come early and see Santa arrive on island, all the way from the North Pole, by helicopter!
Save some energy for Sunday, December 13, when Ice Skating in the Park returns to Veterans Community Park from 1-8 PM.
Soon Marco will begin to look a lot like Christmas, at least atropical one, that is. Decorations, such as holiday banners and lighted angels will be going up soon, all over the island.
Steve Stefanides, chairman of the board of directors for Christmas Island Style says that Marco Island is “a great place to celebrate Christmas.” Thanks to the organization, it is.
