For as many reasons as there are boats in the fleet, only four boats were available for Saturday’s Ladies Day Regatta.  Participating were Bill Schroeder’s Note Bene with Sue McMorris at the helm, John Harkless’ Saboutime driven by Tara  LeGrande, Toad Hall owned by Bill Harris and skippered by Erika Weber, and Dan Kendrick’s Tippecanoe under the sure hand of Jean Preston.

Because of an extra low tide, the race started at 1 PM, a

little later than usual. The day was beautiful but the winds were light, a condition that affects different boats in different ways. Light air brings out the best in racing crews. When handicaps were calculated and applied each boat was assigned its own start time for a “pursuit” start.

After some very enjoyable racing off Capri Pass, crossing the finish line first was Tippecanoe, second was Toad Hall and third was Saboutime. Everyone got home before the rain.

  1. Hi Lee,
I lost your phone number over the years since we sailed together on your PDQ to Key West. Sharon and I were concerned how you guys made out with Hurricane Irma. Please drop us an email. We’re retired in California. Still flying the Bonanza.
