The Marco Island Woman’s Club and The SpeakEasy Restaurant on Marco Island celebrated the start of the 2018 major league baseball season with a very special charitable raffle drawing recently. Proceeds from the 250 limited edition raffle tickets sold will be donated to the new Marco Island Dementia Respite Program, a program administered by the Naples Senior Center at JFCS and conducted on Mondays and Wednesdays at St. Mark’s Church on Marco Island.
The prize was truly a dream come true for the winner—Chicago native and Marco Island resident Alice Comerford. Marco Island visitor Holden Ruth was selected from guests gathered at the Speakeasy to draw the winning ticket. Alice was the ecstatic winner of four grand stand tickets to watch the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs play at Wrigley Field.
Speaking on behalf of raffle sponsor, the Marco Island Woman’s Club, member Judy Kenney said that Alice will have the opportunity to personally select the game for her dream day at Wrigley Field. To make the day truly special, Alice and her guests will also have a photo opportunity on the field with Chicago Cubs players.
The Marco Island Women’s Club will donate close to $6,000 from raffle ticket sales to the Marco Island Dementia Respite Program. This important new program launched on Marco Island in mid-November 2017 as an extension of the successful Dementia Respite Program offered by the Naples Senior Center at JFCS. The program offers a structured and professionally-led four hour session for individuals affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, and also provides caregivers with a regular period of respite while their loved one participates in the program.
