Postal Service and Every Door Direct Mail

Tampa, Fl, customers Robert and Deborah Ray, along with their three dogs, were headed home through Ashburn, GA, when they were involved in a traffic accident. In the confusion, the Rays’ dogs were lost.

The couple found two of the dogs. But, they couldn’t find Norma Jean, their small terrier mix, and had to leave her behind.

Later, Ashburn postal clerk Tangela McKinney told the Rays that Every Door Direct Mail could help them find Norma Jean. McKinney contacted Plains, GA Postmaster Lori McDonough, who helped the Rays prepare their Every Door Direct mailing.

The Rays used Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) to saturate with flyers the area where they had last seen Norma Jean. Shortly after the mailing, they began receiving calls from residents who had seen the dog.

None of the responders were able to capture Norma Jean, but the Rays were able to identify an area where she had been spotted.

Ten days later, the Rays drove back to Ashburn to search the area and found Norma Jean. The Rays were very happy to be reunited with Norma Jean, they credit the postal service and Every Door Direct Mail for the successful recovery of their pet.
