The Artist Colony at the Esplanade held its third “People’s Choice” Art Walk on Wednesday, July 28th from 5-8pm and voted Tracy Gudgel from Waterfront Studios & Gallery the overall winner for the third time, WOW!!!
Loyal patrons of the colony once again enjoyed an evening of food, fun and art. There were colorful interpretations entered in the “People’s Choice” event, as well as the current works of art on display in each gallery. The galleries treated the art lovers to light refreshments, music and artistic specials by CJ’s on the Bay, Tara’s Steak & Lobster House, Starbuck’s, Stone Cold Creamery and Rick’s Island Salon.
“We have reached out to the community through our Art Walk’s each month and it is wonderful to see the interest and participation grow in our “People’s Choice” event. I am inspired and honored to be the overall winner of the “People’s Choice Award” for the third time. Creating an original piece based on our theme really tests the imagination and spontaneity of each artist,” says Gudgel.
Tracy’s winning interpretation for the Artist Colony theme “Colors of Summer,” was “Siren Summer.” This original creation features a Mermaid clinging to the rocks off the beach of Marco and admiring the view as birds fly by and a sailboat cruises off into the breathtaking sunset. This unique creation reminded everyone of how beautiful our Marco sunsets really are. Once again, Gudgel’s unique creation had people talking and voting!
The Artist Colony theme this month is “Hot August Nights” and my unique interpretation is “Siren Sizzle.” I will be introducing a new Marco Mermaid “Princess Darlene,” also known as “Dirty Martini.” She will be joining her sisters Cosmo, Apple and Rose from the “Mermaids & Martini’s” series. I hope curious art lovers are excited to see what’s next! Things are heating up at the Colony! Again, I want to thank all who attended and voted!
Please visit the Artist Colony at the Esplanade and Waterfront Studios & Gallery on August 25th to see my latest unique creations and interpretations,” says Gudgel.
