Marco Island Center for the Arts invites the public to a free poetry reading and reception on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2 PM. Naples poet Kyle Banta will read from his recently published first book of poetry “Intricate Illusions.”
As a person with learning differences, Kyle Banta said he realized the need to “self-advocate …be true to myself… (and stop trying) to be something I am not.” In 2019, his dream of publishing a book of poetry became a reality. Banta’s creativity focused on the famous with dramatic writings entitled “Elvis” and “JFK.” As well as, his own insightful journey that is exposed in the narrative poems “Conformity,” “If They Only Knew” and “True Colors.”
“I am a square peg who finally stopped trying to fit into a round hole!” states poet Kyle Banta in the introduction to his book.
In the Lauritzen and Rush Galleries the exhibition “I See You” is on exhibit now through May 28, 2019, Monday – Friday, from 9 AM to 4 PM. Photographer Jim Freeman images are being shown in the La Petite Galerie.
