Big news for Marco’s Our Daily Bread Food Pantry! The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations—a D.C. based trade association—has chosen Our Daily Bread Food Pantry (ODBFP) as their charity partner for their 2020 Annual Conference. ODBFP started in 2016 and now serves more than 30,000 individuals annually by gathering and distributing more than 330,000 pounds of food.
The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) based in Alexandria, Virginia in its “NAPEO Gives Back” initiative hopes to raise tens of thousands of dollars for ODBFP during its Annual Conference & Marketplace in September 14-16 at Marco’s JW Marriott.
According to a Press Release issued by Kerry Caruthers, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for NAPEO, the new partnership is part of the NAPEO Gives Back initiative, which was launched in 2019 to harness the “Power of Many” in the PEO industry and facilitate community involvement and charitable endeavors. One of the key parts of the initiative is giving back to the cities that host NAPEO’s Annual Conference & Marketplace and other meetings by making an impactful contribution to a worthy local charity that will make a real difference for the host city.
“We started NAPEO Gives Back to leave the communities that host our conferences and meetings a little better off than they were before we arrived,” said Barron Guss, NAPEO’s former chair and the driving force behind the NAPEO Gives Back Initiative. “We know the Our Daily Bread Food Pantry is making a meaningful difference in Marco Island and Collier County and we hope to give their already strong efforts a boost by raising a significant amount of money during our conference in September.”
“We live in an area where 1 in 8 adults may not know where their next meal is coming from. And for children, that number rises 1 in 5,” stated Liz Pecora, Vice President and Director of Communications for ODBFP. “We are so excited about the NAPEO partnership, whose mission of giving back so closely aligns with our quest, Working to Wipe our Hunger in our own community.”
In 2019, the first year of NAPEO Gives Back, the association raised more than $52,000 for Anthropos Arts, an Austin-based charity that provides mentoring and musical instruction for low-income students. The money was raised through individual donations and the sale of raffle tickets and other items during the NAPEO Conference. Similar efforts are planned in support of ODBFP during the 2020 NAPEO Annual Conference & Marketplace, September 14-16 at the JW Marriott in Marco Island.
