Change the life of a child, one shoe box at a time! Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in some 130 countries have learned of God’s love through the power of a simple shoe box gift as part of Operation Christmas Child. By filling a shoe box with small toys, balls, toothbrush/paste, etc., you can bring joy to a child that has never received any gift at all.
Journey of your shoe box…
- Filled shoe boxes are taken from Marco Island and forwarded to the Atlanta, Ga., Processing Center.
- Processing Centers consolidate and inspect each box for the receiving country’s customs requirements.
- Hundreds of trucks and sea containers transport your box, and millions like it, to some 130 counties around the globe.
Operation Christmas Child is a division of Samaritan’s Purse, a nondenominational Christian organization headed by Franklin Graham. Four churches on Marco Island are participating as collection sites this year; Marco Presbyterian Church (875 W. Elkcam Cir.), The Family Church (1450 Winterberry Dr.), New Life Community Church (590 W. Elkcam Cir.), and Wesley United Methodist Church(350 S. Barfield Dr.).
You can participate by picking up shoeboxes at one of these churches along with instructions on filling each box. Then return the filled boxes to that church between Nov. 1-23. All filled boxes must be at Marco Presbyterian by the morning of Nov. 23.
