The notices are being sent on behalf of the Collier County Clerk of Court’s Office due to a state statute change in 2010. The City of Marco Island is not a party to this collections process. The collections notices are being sent for unpaid fines resulting from multiple types of violations that occurred in all parts of Collier County, not just the City of Marco Island. In fact, some of these collections notices are for violations that pre-date the City of Marco Island.
It seems a consistent question received by both Clerk’s and City personnel revolves around the issue of notice or awareness of violation or associated fine. If this is one of your concerns, you are encouraged to obtain a copy of the case through the Clerk’s office to determine your options.
