You know, seldom does something get under my skin, but this time they are hurting a friend of mine, and I just have to tell you the TRUTH about what they say. Have any of you ever even heard of a State Committeewoman? Before I became a member of the Collier County Republican Executive Committee I never heard of it either. I knew they must be important, but I really didn’t know what they do. It seems it is never a heated race, but usually one person who loves to be involved at the state level of politics and represent us. Well, my friend Jan Glassman is that person, and she has been representing us so well over the last few years. She’s quiet and soft–spoken, knows a lot of politicians in other Florida counties, as well as congressmen and senators on a high level. She is highly respected and has brought major political people to our community as speakers and also to help raise money for the political party at our Lincoln/Reagan Day Dinner Dance. Then, someone decided to run against her, and that’s okay. It’s always healthy to meet new players and judge for yourself who will be the best representative, but then the attacks began, and they began towards other offices of the Republican Party as well!
We have always vowed to never attack another Republican, let candidates run a fair race and the best person wins. I have run across nasty political tricks before and am disgusted when I see them in our party, but now someone is calling her vile names. That was the last straw for me! Yes, Jan has a Jewish last name—Glassman. I am not sure how she can be called an antisemitic. She and Alan have been married for 45 years and they have a lovely daughter. Why would anyone even sling such trash around?
The State Committeewoman and State Committeeman (Doug Rankin) are both running for re-election, but there are two new people running against them. Jan Face Glassman has a proven track record of developing and growing strong, long-term relationships with Republican leaders at all levels of government in Collier County Florida and Nationally! She has focused on increasing the role of Republican women in politics. She has volunteered with federal, state, and local campaigns in Florida, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts, and has formed and co-chaired and actively participated in numerous women’s coalitions for state and national candidates. Jan moved to Naples in 2010 and became actively involved with the Republican Party almost instantly. She has brought numerous speakers to Naples for Republican events to raise funds for campaign activities. My favorite recent speaker was Governor Chris Christie, and he was great and had such a good sense of humor, but then again, we had Senator Marsha Blackburn, Corey Lewandowski, and KT McFarland! I could go on and on about her involvement, but I just wanted you to know that before you believe any trash thrown out about her, give her a call or look her up online to learn about the REAL Jan Face Glassman. Presently, she serves as the Collier County Republican State Committeewoman to the RPOF and as the Event Chair for the C.C. Rep. Exec. Committee (CCREC).
The list goes on and on about her Republican involvement, but the mudslinging is making me sick inside and I needed to vent. We have more important things to be doing rather than trying to divide our own party! Recently Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart read Jan Glassman into the 116th Congressional Record for her long-time dedication to her community, and for helping other women and girls who have made a significant impact on South Florida. I will vote for Jan Face Glassman because it’s the right thing to do.
