The Marco Island Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting the annual Memorial Day Services at the Marco Cemetery on Monday, the 31st. It will feature colors presentation, the Marco Island Strummers playing patriotic tunes, some with audience participation, multi-trumpet taps, the Commander’s Message and introduction of guests. The Marco Police and Fire Departments, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol, Boy scouts and others will be present. As usual, attendants should bring chairs and sun protection, which I hope will be needed.
You will again see hundreds of American flags at the roadsides, placed by the VFW and assistants for the holiday weekend. We invite all to attend this ceremony in honor of those who served our nation in peace and war, living and dead, and those serving today in foreign lands to keep America and others free.
