On February 2, 2010 the Art League, Marco Island’s Center for the Arts, announced the latest addition to its growing list of gallery wall sponsors participating in the PALs (“Patrons of the Art League”) program. A plaque on this gallery wall will read, “Art League Leadership – Past and Future.” Sponsorship of this PALs wall was initiated by Gail & Emil Fischer, and LaVonne & Glen Johnson. They challenged other benefactors to honor the former presidents of the Art League, as well as Boards of Directors, and chairs of the volunteer committees. According to the Fischers and the Johnsons, they wanted to recognize the leaders of the past 40 years for their vision; their commitment; and their blood, sweat, and tears on behalf of the Art League.
Christine Neal, Art League Executive Director, extended her sincere appreciation to the Fischer’s and the Johnson’s for matching funds of the other contributors, and thanked all the sponsors of this new Leadership wall, including: Susan Adams; Susan & Ken Kozlowski; Jane Laird; Deborah Melges; Bill Morris; Charlie Neal; Chris & Ken Stroud; and Vicki & Dean Zaneis.
PALs is a Project Rescue program designed to help pay down outstanding debt of the Art League. Gallery wall sponsorships began January 1, and will last for a 21 month period. To date more than 60 individuals and local businesses have joined together in support of the Art League by sponsoring a gallery wall.
Other PALs include: Marco Community Bank; Dr Ed and Cindy Cohen; Gems and Jewels Arts & Entertainment Club; Hilton Marco Island Resort & Spa; and Riverchase Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery. One gallery wall remains to be adopted, and PALs chairperson Carole Roberts challenges others in the community to become Art League PALs and help make the Art League stronger in the future.
