New Self-Check Technology at Library

The Collier County Library system has added a new self-check system at the Marco Island Library and the Headquarters Regional Library, on Orange Blossom Drive. The system features the latest Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which allows patrons to easily check out various media without the aid of library staff. The new RFID self-check system is easy to use and intuitive, providing users with clear instructions at RFID kiosks via animated graphics and their choice of language. The new system enables library staff members to provide more personalized service to patrons by moving away from the circulation desk and into other areas of the library, providing one-on-one assistance. “Library staff is excited to utilize the new self-check system,” said Tanya Williams, the county’s interim library director. “Not only will the system increase ease of use for library patrons, it will also allow staff to offer a higher level of customer service.”
