Marco Island Center for the Arts announced today appointment of local attorney William G. Morris as Public Relations Director for the Center. Morris is past president and a current member of the Board of Directors. Morris is a volunteer providing services that were previously provided by paid staff.
The appointment is intended to streamline communication between the Center and the press. Morris will be responsible for preparing and transmitting information about Center events to local media and to the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce. Morris assumes these responsibilities in addition to his volunteer efforts as a director and full time employment as a Marco Island attorney.
The Center believes this appointment will improve communication and “get the word out” in the words of Hyla Crane, Executive Director for the Center. “Bill has done a lot for the Center,” said Crane. “He has recently come back on to the board and his voluntarily taking over these responsibilities will not only improve our communication, but will also free up staff time to serve our members in other areas.”
Morris has been a Marco Island resident since 1983. In addition to volunteering at the Center and overseeing his law practice, Morris and his wife Pegi have 9 children, many of whom participate in classes and activities at the Center. “The Center is a great organization that offers almost endless opportunities for education and enjoyment of the arts. I hope I can help more Islanders know what we do and the opportunities that are available.”
