The Rotary Club of Marco Island Noontime is pleased to announce Claudia Cruz Sotolongo was recently inducted into our club.
Claudia was born in Cuba, and at the age of 6, relocated to Miami Florida because her mother wanted to escape the lack of food, the abundance and over-reaching of government regulations, and the abolishment of Freedom of Speech that was occurring in Cuba. Upon her arrival to Miami, Claudia knew no English, but within 6 months had mastered it. While attending school in Miami, she studied diligently and earned straight “A’s” because she wanted to show her mother that her hard work and efforts in raising and supporting Claudia were worth it. Claudia continued her education by earning a B.A. degree in Psychology and Public Relations and an M.B.A. in Organizational Leadership.
Claudia and her husband Saul were recently married and they are in the process of building their first home on Marco. Claudia is working in her chosen field as a commercial associate with Coldwell Banker NRT where she specializes in investment properties as well as other sales and leasing.
Claudia’s hobbies include traveling, reading, watching movies, spending time with family and volunteering. She serves on the Community Involvement Committee at the Naples Area Board of Realtors as well as the Commercial Committee. She is the CARES representative for the community service efforts at the Coldwell Banker Naples Central office. She also serves on the Facilities Committee for the STARability foundation.
Claudia shared with us that her interest in becoming a Rotarian began when her 8th–grade middle school teacher invited her to join the Interact Club. It was that personal touch that motivated Claudia to begin a journey that ultimately would lead her to us today. Claudia will be an outstanding addition to our Rotary Club family. WELCOME ABOARD CLAUDIA!
