The Island Players announces a change in upcoming schedule.
The Island Players has postponed their production of Saga of Roaring Gulch slated for March/April and added Putting It Together to their schedule.
Putting It Together is a compilation of Stephen Sondheim songs that the composer put together like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, creating a narrative set at a cocktail party in an elegant condo. The non-traditional musical has a cast of five (a glamorous but slightly jaded couple, a starry-eyed younger couple and a savvy observer) who sing more than 30 songs that reflect their lives, lifestyles and moods of the moment. Some of the songs will be familiar, some less so, a few were even cut from their original musical scores, but they are all sophisticated, smart and drop-dead droll. In other words, all Sondheim.
The show will be held at the Rose History Auditorium, 180 South Heathwood Drive, and will open at the end of March. Rehearsals will begin the first week of February.
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 3 and Thursday, January 5 at 6:30pm at 1150 Bluebird Ave. on Marco Island. The show will be directed by Jean Rowles.
There will be five roles available, both male and female. Singing and minimal choreography are required. We will be looking to cast individuals between the ages of 20 and 60. A prepared song is required for the audition. Background music is preferred; however, if you need an accompanist for auditions, please indicate that when you call for an audition time. Prospective cast members should bring a current photo and resume. Please call 239-394-0080 to schedule an audition time, directions to auditions, or additional information.
