The Humane Society Naples (www.HSNaples.org) is pleased to announce that Mocha, a puppy that was recently adopted from its shelter, was selected to participate in Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl XIII at GEICO Stadium that will air on Sunday, February 5. “Tail”gating and the Puppy Bowl Pre-Game Show with sports correspondents including the infamous Rodt Weiler will begin at 2 PM and the Puppy Bowl will kick off with a special appearance by the famous Punxsutawney Phil – who will officiate the coin toss at 3 PM.
In addition to Humane Society Naples’ Mocha, this year’s Pedigree® Starting Lineup boasts 39 puppies from 34 animal shelters across 22 states who make up the rosters of #TeamRuff and #TeamFluff which includes 78 adoptable players. In addition to the game, the puppies will also compete for the individual Bissell® MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) by scoring the most touchdowns with dog-approved toys by Petco. For the sixth year in a row, America’s favorite “Rufferee,” Dan Schachner, returns to call the game. Award-winning animal advocate and television correspondent Jill Rappaport introduces the Subaru Pup Close and Personal segments that highlight some of the heartwarming stories of the adorable athletes. Puppy Bowl XIII will play allday and night for a total of 10 hours on game day.
Mocha, a weimaraner/pit bull mix, was originally rescued from another shelter and was just three-months-old at the time of Puppy Bowl filming in October. During her travels to New York City she took the subway, ate at rooftop restaurants, and visited the 9/11 Memorial and Times Square. She is now a sweet, affectionate, and smart six-month-old and has been adopted by a loving family.
“I’m excited that we got the opportunity to highlight one of our pets nationally,” said Michael Simonik, executive director of The Humane Society Naples.
