The Naples Concert Band (www.NaplesConcertBand.org), under the direction of Harris Lanzel, will open its 43rd season with a Concert in the Park on Sunday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cambier Park Bandshell, with a special encore performance at Artis-Naples on Sunday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m.
The Naples Concert Band’s (NCB) first concert of the season is dedicated to the memory of Dr. James “Jym” Moore, long time Naples Concert Band member and percussion section leader. Jym passed away on June 12, 2014.
The concert will feature three powerhouse soloists including Glenn Basham, concert master of the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra, who will perform the flashy violin solo Csardas by Monti as well as show off his harmonica chops in Norman Tailor’s Three Sketches; and Craig Greusel, baritone, and Lisa Federico, soprano, who will perform many of the memorable songs from the Broadway play Les Miserables.
Sousa Marches, The Overture to Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro, Ravel’s Bolero, and Highlights from the Disney movie Frozen are some of the selections that will round out the program.
Special thanks to NCB concert sponsor, Sun Reality, Diane J. Brennan, GRT.
Guests are encouraged to arrive early with lawn chairs and blankets for seating. Admission is free, with donations appreciated. Donations received at each concert help to defray operating expenses and are applied to The Band’s Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships each year to deserving student members of The Band.
