At the last BAC beach clean-up, a huge group of staff and friends from CJ’s on the Bay participated. They made it a “fun in the sun” day! Meeting at the Marriott, sporting matching shirts and holding a scavenger hunt, the group removed many bags of trash from the Marco Island beach. The work was hardly noticed by the group since they made it more like play! Items found in large numbers were straws, plastic wraps, bottles and cigarette butts. This should remind everyone to take home what you bring to the beach.
The BAC will continue to have beach clean-ups in coordination with the quarterly Friends of Tigertail, Keep Collier Beautiful and the annual national Bay Day coastal clean-up events. Sasso’s sponsored the BAC beach clean-up for November. They met at 8 AM at the South Beach Boardwalk where it meets the sand, the Sasso’s group was armed by Kevin Donlan with gloves and bags and bottled water donated by Publix. Bernardo Bezos had the MICA beach vehicle ready to carry supplies, tired participants and full trash bags for disposal! Sasso’s had a great turn out!
The public is welcome to participate at any of the clean-ups – more hands on the beach; keeps it clean for everyone! Come out and join us! The dates for the upcoming beach clean-ups are as follows:
- Saturday, December 3rd, 8 AM – Noon, at Tigertail Beach Park (meet at the kiosk) – sponsored by the Friends of Tigertail, Inc.
- Sunday, January 22nd, 2012, 8 AM at the South Beach Boardwalk – sponsored by the BAC.
