MIPD Officer Fired Following Investigation


The following statement was issued today by Police Captain David S. Baer of the Marco Island Police Department:

After completing an Internal Affairs Investigation started on 3/29/2018, the Marco Island Police Department has terminated Police Officer Kevin Hennings effective 9/18/18.

The Marco Island Police Department investigated former Officer Hennings for violations of Departmental General Orders stemming from on-duty inappropriate conduct with an adult female.

At the conclusion of investigation 18-003, Hennings was found to have violated General Orders associated with Conduct (Non-Compliance with Directives, Integrity, and, Conduct Unbecoming) and Telecommunications.

This investigation and subsequent outcome serves to provide a clear message the Marco Island Police Department takes all violations of general orders or policy seriously.  Hennings’ actions are contrary to Departmental guidelines, moreover, undermined public trust.  The men and women of the Marco Island Police Department seek to continue the partnership of trust with the community, serving with honor and integrity.
