Millionaire Choices

Getting Personal, it’s your happiness…

“What I have discovered is that happiness is entirely up to me. Others in my life can add to or diminish my happiness somewhat. But the key to knowing and living happiness is to accept that happiness is my choice alone. And I choose it every time. Lucky me!”

~ Edith M. Donohue, PhD

As Bobby McFerrin sang in 1988, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” is a philosophy of sorts. Research indicates that a sense of feeling good about oneself generates favorable outcomes. Staying positive and remaining hopeful even during stressful periods leads to greater happiness. Guarded optimism is better than pessimism.

Physical fitness is a worthy goal. Feeling good about yourself, a desire that can be enhanced through moderate exercise, will contribute to improved self-esteem. Physical fitness is of lasting benefit when it becomes an integral part of your lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle enables you to work longer and generate more income to save and invest.

Psychologists who study happiness find that happy people participate more in community organizations, are more liked by others, are less likely to get divorced, tend to live slightly longer, perform better at work, and even earn higher incomes. (Diener et. al. 1985, Pavot and Diener 1993, Myers and Diener 1995, Diener 2000).

How would you respond to these happiness measures of life satisfaction?

In most ways my life is close to my ideal.

The conditions of my life are excellent.

I am satisfied with my life.

So far I have gotten the important things I want in life.

If I could live my life over, I would change almost nothing.

Quite often I feel anxious when I think about the future.

A personal assessment and self-scoring test is offered in the book, “Richer Than A Millionaire ~ A Pathway to True Prosperity.”

Indeed, empirical evidence is in favor of seeking happiness, and the benefits of being happy are overwhelming. Never forget to count your blessings and to fully appreciate the positive things in your life!

New York Times bestselling author William D. Danko and Richard J.
