MICMS’ TV Studio Gets Support From Kiwanis Club

Incoming President, Preston Stiner, and outgoing President Kathleen Reynolds recently presented a check for $4,000 to George Abounader, Principal of the Marco Island Charter Middle School. This check represents the final support for some $17,000 plus extended to the school to rebuild their outdated television studio. The new television studio allows school-wide simultaneous distribution of the school’s morning news show and a running slide show in the lobby of related information, among other things. Kiwanis’ leadership was unanimous in their support of this project because the new equipment gives students opportunities to work creatively with up-to-date media technology and also because it provides students with real life chances to practice their writing and public speaking skills, two traits important for full participation in a complex 21stcentury world.

The Kiwanis Club of Marco Island was chartered by Kiwanis International some twenty-five years ago. Members work to improve the world, one child and one community at a time.
