School officially begins on August 19th but for students heading into a new school, especially as freshman, it can be a bit intimidating. MICMS is holding a “New Student Orientation Program” on Thursday, August 15 from 6:00 – 7:00 in the school gymnasium which will help familiarize new students with school happenings.
Parents and students will be pleased to know the school has just received its thirteenth “A” rating in the schools fifteen year history, the twelfth consecutively. The school’s score showed improvement from 659 in 2012 to 697 in 2013; a 38 point improvement over the last year.
With those sterling results, the school maintains its prestigious designation by the Florida Department of Education as a “High Performing Charter School.”
This success was achieved in a year when the State raised the bar and provided the most rigorous assessment to date to MICMS’s largest and most diverse student population in the school’s history. Tarik Ayasun, President of the MICMS Board of Directors acknowledges the teachers for the hard work they put in and administration and staff for their sacrifices to make our school the best in Collier County and 19th best in the State. “We are proud of our achievements yet, we will never stop working hard every year to get even better. We thank the community for their continued support.”
Along with the excellent school grades as a Collier County Public School, MICMS hosts an extensive student/athlete program in nine sports and fourteen teams competing in both the public and private school conferences and winning championships in several tournaments.
MICMS also reaches out to the community with its Art Students, 230 member school Band, Jazz Band, Chorus Students, and STARZ Performing Arts Students by participating in many of the local activities and programs as the community and various civic organizations request.
