The Marco Island Charter Middle School (MICMS) will welcome back a football program this fall.
Players, parents and coaches with Island Youth Football pleaded with the MICMS School Board to reinstate the football program after it was disbanded last year. The boys attended two school board meetings and made their case to bring back the program, promising to raise all the money necessary through fundraising, recruit new players and always put school work first.
Twenty-three boys have played on the Marco Island Eagles for Island Youth Football for three seasons, but with the end of the First Baptist Academy Tackle Football Outreach Program, the team would have been disbanded.
The team is grateful to the School Board and excited for the future of football on Marco Island.
