Marco Island Marriott’s Resident Manager Shines As Marriott International’s EDGE Award recipient Michael Tighe, Resident Manager of Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort, Golf Club & Spa, was awarded one of Marriott International’s top honors, the 2012 EDGE award. The EDGE (Excellence in Delivering the Guest Experience) award is an annual award presented by CEO Arne Sorenson. It recognizes world-class leadership and outstanding contributions to the success of rooms operations discipline within Marriott International.
Tighe was nominated by General Manager Rick Medwedeff. “Mike is a 22-year hospitality veteran and during his past six years at Marco Island Marriott he has led the resort to new, award-winning levels,” says Medwedeff. “He consistently challenges his team to look for new opportunities to drive performance. Mike is relentless in his efforts to resolve problems and motivate his team, ultimately driving results to record highs.”
Marco Island Marriott is no stranger to receiving awards. Executives at the resort have been on a winning streak this year with Medwedeff receiving the General Manager of The Year Award for Marriott Hotels & Resorts globally and, most recently, Marco Island Marriott Spa was voted as one of Conde Nast Traveler’s top 100 U.S. spas.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by Mr. Sorenson and Marriott International for my achievements,” said Tighe. “My goal every day is to improve and heighten the overall guest experience. I am dedicated to inspiring leadership within my team, and it is with their support and dedication I was able to achieve my goals. I am pleased to accept this award not only for my efforts but also on behalf of the hard work from my award-winning team.”
