The MIA Rays Touchdown Club, a local booster club made up of Marco area residents, gas presented a check as a deposit for new home and away uniforms for the Marco Island Academy football team.

Touchdown Club Board of Directors Wayne Purvis and Michael Hook presented the check to MIA Board Chairman Jane Watt, Principal Melissa Scott and Head Football Coach Greg Fowler.

The new uniforms come on the heels of other donations by the Touchdown Club to the program this year, including a hydration system for the players, video equipment for coaches and knee braces for linemen.

It is expected the new uniforms should arrive by early summer. Purvis said that key support for the uniforms came from Andrew Hunter Homes and the Sunshine Rotary on Marco Island. Purvis also said the club is committed to pay the full cost of the uniforms.

Those interested in Touchdown Club membership should contact Purvis at 239-389-1265 or Hook at 239-970-2420.
