As Memorial Day quickly approaches on May 25th, islanders seek out ways to show their appreciation for the sacrifices made by their fellow Americans to serve their nation when called upon, and according to David Gardner, the group known as Marco War Veterans has just the perfect way.
Many of its members belonged to the now-dissolved VFW Post 6370, prior to state leadership deciding to consolidate Posts into larger ones. For many in the Marco Post, that meant traveling approximately 25 miles round trip during the dark of the night. As they were all growing older, that became a difficult task as their health began to deteriorate, including their eyesight.
Their organization stocks a full line of flags for the many patriotic holidays and events that islanders so enjoy. “We are extremely proud that all our flags are made here in the United States. They are not manufactured overseas, but right here in America,” stated Dave Gardner the Flag Supply Officer for the Marco War Veterans.
The group is dedicated to providing veterans who have served in a combat role with assistance if it is required. The sale of these American produced flags is one way they can afford to assist their brothers in arms.
You can reach Garner by calling him at 239-289-5862 or emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org. The club keeps flags of many sizes in stock and they can be picked up locally by calling Gardner.
