The Research Team on board the Dolphin Explorer is happy to share information about your area dolphins with the Coastal Breeze News readers. Each edition an individual will be profiled so that you, too, might get to know them. Dolphins can be identified by the nicks and marks on their dorsal fins.
This adult female is one of the most productive dolphins in our area. She has given birth to a new calf every three years, like clockwork, since 2004.
Halfway has one notch on her dorsal fin, right in the center, and is easy to identify.
In 2004, she gave birth to Seymour; in 2007 to Simon; in 2010 to Kaya; in 2013 to Skipper. And in the fall of 2016, Wyatt came along.
