The Research Team on board the Dolphin Explorer is happy to share information about your area dolphins with the Coastal Breeze News readers. Each edition an individual will be profiled so that you, too, might get to know them. Dolphins can be identified by the nicks and marks on their dorsal fins.
Capri was named after the Isles of Capri, where he is quite often seen. He is one of the larger males in the north Marco Island area. Capri has formed a “male pair bond” relationship with another male named Hatchet. This bonding can sometimes be a lifelong event, and its primary purpose is to impress the females. This strong relationship is second only to the bond of a mother and its calf.
