Meet Marco’s Newly-Named Beach and Coastal Resources Advisory Committee

The members of Marco Island’s newly-named, Beach and Coastal Resources Advisory Committee (BCRAC) include Nathan O’Donnell, Ray McChesney, Ruth McCann (Chair), Maria Lamb (Vice Chair), Judy Novak and Michael Curriale.

Both Nathan O’Donnell and Michael Curriale are new appointees to the board.

BCRAC’s new mission is as follows:

“The beach is key to Marco Island’s economic success. The health of Marco Island’s beaches and coastal resources are critical to the continued economic vitality of our city. The BCRAC was established to advice Council on issues related to protecting and preserving this important natural resource.”

On the top of its agenda is the elimination of the use of disposable beverage cup lids and straws from its beaches. All businesses, hotels, restaurants and vendors on or adjacent to the beach shall not include or offer disposable cup lids and straws when serving beverages to patrons or customers on or adjacent to the beach.
