This Saturday, November 17, local charities are coming together with the goal of packaging 150,000 meals to feed local needy families. Volunteers of all ages are needed and welcomed for a short time commitment, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Marco Island Charter Middle School. This is an especially good volunteer activity for school-aged children.
Each year, Meals of Hope seeks to outperform the previous year’s record, making the pace of the event fast and fun. The event is a collaboration of the Marco Island Sunrise Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and Noontime Rotary Club. A series of fundraising events this fall generated the funds to purchase the meals, which now need to be packaged for distribution. A drawing for the winner of the 50/50 raffle tickets that were sold at each event will also take place. The prize is expected to be $5,000.
